Miles Sampson was invited to the Global Airtightness Academy in snow covered Switzerland to witness airtightness products in action. Others included the founder of the Passive House Standard, Dr. Wolfgang Feist and Matt Risinger of the Build Show. The visit reinforced our belief in the importance of airtightness in buildings and the importance of durability of the products used to achieve airtightness. If we want buildings to last 100s of years then the products that go into them have to be manufactured to last just as long. Within a global economy where endless “white label” products exist it is very had to know where the products are manufactured or who has tested them. Seeing the manufacturing in person (in a timber framed, solar PV covered factory) allows us to know where and how the products we specify are produced and ensures that our clients get the best buildings that can be made.
