Our Eco House in County Clare, which blends traditional and modern elements, is now complete. The photos highlight how the house’s public façade, designed in keeping with the local architecture, conceals a contemporary and exciting design featuring a spacious roof balcony and large corner windows which offer impressive views over the garden and the surrounding countryside.
The roadside elevation features smaller windows, not only enhancing privacy and maintaining a traditional aesthetic but also following passive house principles by reducing heat loss on the north side. In contrast, large areas of glazing on the southern elevation create a strong visual connection to the garden while maximizing passive solar gains, reducing the home’s energy requirements.
Sustainable design features of this eco house in County Clare include timber frame construction, high-performance glazing, recycled newspaper insulation, photovoltaic solar panels and a wood-burning stove.
Built by Irish Eco Homes, this project demonstrates how sustainable architecture can be both energy-efficient and attractive.
