Our latest eco build project, a one-off house near Portumna, has been granted full planning permission by Galway County Council. This sustainable new build follows Passivhaus principles and is designed to fit seamlessly into the rural countryside.
The house reflects a traditional rural farmyard layout, making the most of the unique oblong site. Our design maximises passive solar gains, with large south-facing windows allowing sunlight to warm the interior, reducing the need for artificial heating. Minimal windows on the northern side help to minimise heat loss, enhancing the home’s energy efficiency.
High-performance insulation ensures the house remains warm in winter and cool in summer, maintaining a comfortable indoor climate year-round. The ventilation system is designed to provide continuous air circulation, improving indoor air quality.
This eco build focuses on sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and techniques to reduce the environmental footprint while ensuring the building’s longevity. We are looking forward to contributing to the sustainable development of the rural landscape in County Galway.
